scalp donor availability is assessed, body hair suitability is checked, and the required graft count is calculated

For most people dealing with hair loss, the scalp donor area is enough. But not always. In advanced baldness or scarring alopecia cases, the back and sides of the scalp simply don't have enough healthy follicles left to work with. That's where body hair transplant comes in. BHT is a permanent hair restoration procedure where follicles are taken from other parts of the body, beard, chest, stomach, legs, armpits and implanted into bald or thinning areas of the scalp. It's done entirely through FUE, the same minimally invasive extraction technique used in standard hair transplants. Cost at DMC Trichology ranges from ₹50,000 to ₹2,00,000. The clinic operates from two locations in Delhi Vasant Vihar (South Delhi) and Rajouri Garden (West Delhi).

If scalp donor hair alone can't give adequate coverage, BHT is often the only viable surgical option.

BHT isn't a straightforward extension of standard hair transplant surgery. Body hair differs from scalp hair in texture, growth cycle, and density and blending the two well requires a specific level of surgical experience.
DMC Trichology's surgeons are trained in exactly this. A sharp-tip micro-punch tool is used to minimise tissue damage during extraction. The goal is always a result that looks like it was never touched.
One thing patients are always told upfront: the success rate for BHT is 75–80%, which is lower than scalp-to-scalp FUE (around 95%). This is because of the inherent differences in body hair characteristics. It's discussed honestly during every consultation so patients can make an informed decision.
Physical discomfort affects daily life and overall wellbeing. At our physiotherapy center, we help you overcome pain, improve mobility, and restore body function through professional care and guidance.
Yes. Donor grafts are chosen from DHT-resistant body zones, so the transplanted hair doesn't fall out over time.
No. Local anaesthesia covers both donor and recipient areas throughout. There's no pain during the procedure itself.
75–80% on average. It's lower than scalp-to-scalp transplants because body hair behaves differently, growth cycles, texture, and calibre all vary. The surgical team walks every patient through this before proceeding.
It can come very close. Body hair does differ in texture and how it grows, but in experienced hands the blend looks natural. It won't be identical to native scalp hair in every case, and the team is transparent about that.
Between ₹50,000 and ₹2,00,000. The final figure depends on how many grafts are needed, which donor sites are used, how many sessions are required, and the overall extent of hair loss. Exact pricing is confirmed at consultation.
